| January 7, 2010 | Mischa Barton, Lee Tergesen Headed To ‘Law & Order: SVU’ |
Mischa Barton is heading to “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” The former “O.C.” star, whose most recent series, “The Beautiful Life,” was canceled by The CW in the fall, will play Gladys, a lady of the night. Mischa’s episode — opposite series stars Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni — will air on March 3, Zap2it.com reported. But Mischa isn’t the only star gearing up for a guest spot on the show. Lee Tergesen, who starred on HBO’s prison drama series “Oz” opposite Christopher, will appear in an upcoming episode, Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello reported. Lee will play a crazy religious man accused of murder. Fans can expect the former “Oz” couple to engage in “lots of sweaty interrogation scenes,” a source told the columnist. And as previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Sharon Stone will also join the “SVU” cast for a four-episode arc as a cop-turned-prosecutor. |

| January 7, 2010 | I’m an embarrassment: Mischa Barton |
Former “O.C.” actress Mischa Barton ![]() says she is a terrible date because she is clumsy and embarrassing to go out with Barton said she is so clumsy she would make a terrible date and that her awkward antics attract unwanted attention from the paparazzi, reports fametastic.co. “I’m ridiculously clumsy, you’d never want to date me, I’m an embarrassment. I wouldn’t even know where to start telling you the things I’ve walked into. I think that’s why the photographers love me, I’m constantly bruising myself or grazing my knees,” she said. Despite admitting she is clumsy, the 23-year-old who has dated a string of famous men, including singers Luke Pritchard and Johnny Borrell insists none have ever ditched her. “I’ve never been dumped. One tried to make it quite mutual though so that felt as close to dumping as I’ve got. I kind of lost it and was like, ‘You are not turning this on me. I dumped you first’,” she said. “I felt like my heart was broken at the end of a couple of relationships but it wasn’t really,” she added. |

| January 7, 2010 | Ashton Kutcher’s Cancelled Show “The Beautiful Life” Now on YouTube |
“The Beautiful Life,” a show set in the modeling world and starring Mischa Barton and Elle MacPherson, came and went earlier this year, lasting just two episodes before the CW network pulled the plug. Now, the show’s creator, Ashton Kutcher, has announced he’s making all five produced episodes — two that ran and three that never aired — available on YouTube, starting today. In an announcement posted on the video sharing site, Kutcher said, “I want this to be the first show ever that gets more viewers on the Web than what it got on terrestrial television.” That seems ambitious even in this scaled-down format. The show underwhelmed critics (Glenn Garvin of the Miami Herald called it a “hopelessly trashy melodrama about hopelessly trashy people”) and its second episode drew a mere 1.1 million viewers. If viewers didn’t care when “The Beautiful Life” was on network television, it seems unlikely they would seek it out on-line. Check out the pilot on YouTube and judge for yourself. |

| July 18, 2009 | Mischa Barton series ‘Beautiful Life’ on hold |
The production start on CW’s new drama “The Beautiful Life” has been pushed back by a week, from July 22 to July 31. And despite the widely publicized recent meltdown and hospitalization of co-star Mischa Barton, sources close to the show say the reason for the delay is far more mundane: Some of the sets for the show were not completed on time. “Beautiful Life,” executive produced by Ashton Kutcher, revolves around a group of models living together in a coed residence in New York. On the series, which is scheduled to premiere Sept. 16 behind “America’s Next Top Model,” the “O.C.” alumna plays a supermodel and veteran of the high-fashion circuit who is struggling to keep on top and is in danger of slipping. “Beautiful Life” has been getting an extra dose of prelaunch publicity from the tabloid exploits of Barton, who, following a call to the police on Wednesday night, was put under an involuntary psychiatric hold at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She spent time in rehab last year. |

| July 18, 2009 | Director: Mischa was ‘Cheery’ and ‘Funny’ On Set |
Is life imitating art for Mischa Barton? The 23-year-old plays a former homecoming queen who goes berserk on her ex-boyfriend’s current girlfriend in the new flick “Homecoming.” Barton missed the New York premiere last night after being taken to the psych ward at Cedars-Sinai in L.A. The film’s director, Morgan J. Freeman, doesn’t believe Barton’s role played a part in the real-life drama. Freeman tells “Extra,” “She was very professional on-set in playing a character who got to lose her mind in the movie, but I don’t see that in having any relationship to her real life.” Freeman enjoyed working with Barton and says she was “cheery” and “funny” while on the set of “Homecoming.” He adds, “She was excited about some other job things happening.” He also says the former “The O.C.” star was “100% professional” and “prompt,” and that Barton knew her lines, and that the news of her hospitalization was a complete shock to him. |

| July 18, 2009 | Mischa Barton on a Destructive Path, Says Pal |
News of Mischa Barton’s hospitalization has friends worried about her health – though some say they saw this coming. “She has been on a destructive path for a while now,” a friend of the actress tells PEOPLE. “Her drug and alcohol [use] has gotten to a point where it drove people away.” The star of The O.C., 23, who sources say has been “dealing with a lot of personal issues,” is under psychiatric evaluation at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after calling police with a health problem on Wednesday. “I don’t think she knows her limits,” adds the pal. But Barton has battled demons before: She pleaded no contest to drunken driving in April 2008. Later, she called the incident a low point and said she was disappointed in herself. In July 2008, she told Marie Claire magazine that she’d sought treatment for her problems. “I wanted to prove to the court that I would take it completely seriously,” she said, “so I went to rehab to prove I was sober.” It’s not exactly clear what led the young star to be hospitalized this week, but experts say Barton could be discharged by Saturday afternoon if she demands to be released or doctors find her to be stable. If her condition doesn’t improve, they can request an additional 14-day hold. |

| July 18, 2009 | Mischa Barton ‘Dealing with Personal Issues’ |
Almost a year after describing her DUI arrest as “a low point,” Mischa Barton – who called police with a health problem Wednesday – may be hitting another rough patch. “She has been dealing with a lot of personal issues,” a pal tells PEOPLE about the actress who has been spotted club hopping in L.A. and London the past few months. “I don’t know if she really ever gave up some of the bad habits that had gotten out of control a couple years back.” The 23-year-old actress was scheduled to attend the premiere of her movie Homecoming Thursday night in New York City but Access Hollywood reports she remained at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles under psychiatric hold. Filmmaker Wishes Her Well“I wish her all the best. First and foremost, we want her to get healthy again,” Homecoming producer Austin Stark tells PEOPLE. “It’s obvious we’d like her to support the movie and be here, but we hope she gets better.” And of shooting Homecoming with Barton in Pittsburgh, Stark says, “When she was on-set, she acted like a professional. I honestly had no complaints. She struck me as a nice young girl, she never said anything mean to anyone, and she wasn’t late on-set or anything like that.” Her rep declined to comment on the report of her going to a psych ward, but tells PEOPLE, “Mischa has been hospitalized per the recommendation of her doctor and is resting in the hospital.” |

| July 18, 2009 | Mischa Barton Cancels Appearance After Medical Problem |
Mischa Barton will skip the premiere Thursday night of her movie Homecoming, a day after she made a medical call to Los Angeles police. The 23-year-old actress, who two months earlier said that she was happy and healthy, called police at 3 p.m. Wednesday with a health problem, LAPD Officer April Harding confirms to PEOPLE. (Access Hollywood first reported the story.) “We assisted her with a medical issue and removed her from her home,” says Harding. She adds that no paramedics were involved and no arrests were made, but confidentiality laws prevent her from revealing details about Barton’s condition. The star’s Craig Schneider, tells PEOPLE exclusively that police were only needed to protect the former O.C. star from the media as she was transported to her doctor. “Police were involved due to Ms. Barton’s celebrity status, to safely transfer her to medical treatment as per doctor’s orders,” Schneider tells PEOPLE, adding that Barton is now “okay and resting.” Austin Stark, one of Homecoming’s producers, tells PEOPLE, “There were some medical problems. She’s not able to travel, as far as I know.” He says he’s disappointed Barton will miss the indie film’s premiere “because she did a great job” in her role as an unscrupulous homecoming queen. Director Morgan J. Freeman and producers Austin Stark, Benji Kohn and Bingo Gubelmann of Paper Street Films are still expected to attend. |
