| June 30, 2009 | Mischa Barton prefers kissing girls on screen |
Actress Mischa Barton has revealed that she finds it easier to lock lips with girls than the opposite sex while filming. The former O.C star, best known for her role as Marissa Cooper in the television series, said that she found kissing guys more “tense”. “It’s so much easier to kiss a girl. You’re so much more relaxed filming than you are doing a guy and girl scene. You can relax and have a laugh about it, whereas if it’s a man you have to kiss, the whole thing’s a bit tense,” Contactmusic quoted her as saying. The 23-year-old further said that she was yet to understand how she kept landing roles that included lesbian scenes. She said: “I don”t know why that keeps happening to me, but my scripts have a lot of girl-on-girl kissing. But if it’’s part of my character, that doesn’t really annoy me.” |

| June 30, 2009 | Barton: ‘I tried to lose my British accent’ |
Mischa Barton has admitted that she consciously tried to lose her British accent after moving to the US. The former O.C. star, who was born in London, told the Daily Mail that she was “embarrassed” to admit that she had attempted to ditch her accent after relocating to New York. “I went to classes and everything. I ended up putting on this terrible ‘Nu Yawk’ accent and hid behind that for a while,” she explained. “Now I don’t try to hide it so much, but my accent slips all over the place. It’s a mess – I don’t sound like I’m from anywhere anymore.” The 23-year-old, who opened this year’s Harrods sale, added: “I haven’t lived [in Britain] since I was tiny, but my entire family is British and I’ve been raised as a Brit. “My sister lives and works in London as a barrister, but nobody can get their head round the fact I’m anything but a Hollywood girl. In the US nobody thinks of me as American, and here, nobody believes I’m British.” |
